24 noiembrie 2009, LEHI, UT – Three-plus years ago, XanGo, LLC and
Real Salt Lake celebrated a first in North American professional
sports history, by inking a jersey-front sponsorship. Today, XanGo
and Real Salt Lake (RSL) are celebrating again, as RSL has brought
the state of Utah its first professional sports title in almost 40
years. XanGo staff, executives, founders and distributors will join
the rest of Salt Lake City at Rio Tinto Stadium this evening at
5:00 p.m. for the MLS Cup 2009 Celebration Rally. Playing the role
of underdog Real Salt Lake triumphantly defeated the star-studded,
favorite Los Angeles Galaxy for the MLS Cup on Sunday evening in
Seattle. “We recognize the tenacity, self-belief and hard work that
contributed to Real Salt Lake’s improbable run through the playoffs
and congratulate them on becoming MLS Champions,” said XanGo
Founder and Chairman Aaron Garrity. “In so many ways, their playoff
run mirrors XanGo’s rise to the top of the direct selling industry,
and the accomplishments of our distributors, the champions of our
company.” Just weeks earlier, XanGo brought thousands about 10,000
distributors to Salt Lake City to celebrate the company’s growth
and success at its annual convention. The convention closed with
more than 3,000 XanGo distributors attending RSL’s season finale.
Donned in RSL jerseys and scarves displaying the XanGo logo
proudly, they cheered on RSL to what would turn out to be their
playoff clinching victory. In front of a crowd of 46,011 at Qwest
Field and an overnight broadcast rating of 0.9 – both the highest
in four years for an MLS Cup match – RSL fought from behind in the
second half to force overtime. With the exposure from an
international broadcast on ESPN, the MLS Cup and XanGo’s logo on
the front of RSL’s jersey were viewed on television sets in 122
countries. “The international exposure of Real Salt Lake and XanGo
in the MLS Cup final has provided a great event for our
distributors – more than 1 million strong worldwide – to rally
around, celebrating our partnership with RSL and XanGo’s success of
this past year,” said Garrity. RSL beat the Los Angeles Galaxy,
with international stars David Beckham and Landon Donovan, 5-4 in a
shootout after a 1-1 tie in regulation. RSL entered the playoffs
with an 11-12-7 record as the lowest seeded team. This July, XanGo
renewed the pioneering jersey-front sponsorship deal – initially
inked in October 2006 – for another three years ensuring the
partnership will continue to grow along with the influence of
soccer in North America.
